Hepatitis C Treatment

Currently there are several possibilities to treat hepatitis C. The most effective medical treatment is a combination of an antiviral drug called ribavirin (taken orally), pegylated interferon, a drug that is punctured and subcutaneously administered once a week for 24-48 weeks, depending on viral genotype. The number of patients who respond to treatment (the virus disappeared from the blood) is approximately 54%.

When patients do not respond to treatment, if initial therapy was not included pegylated interferon retreatment is indicated using this drug. But if this drug has already been used, today is not indicated a new cycle of treatment and indications must be individualized, considering options such as the inclusion of patients in clinical trials. In these time we started talking about hepatitis, an infection or inflammation of the liver. Highlight its main symptoms and signs to recognize the disease and how to prevent it. Today we’ll hepatitis E.

Hepatitis E is similar to hepatitis A since the infection also occurs through fecal-oral contamination. Hepatitis E is most common in underdeveloped countries, low social economic status and poor hygiene as the main route of transmission is fecal contamination of water for human use and consumption.

In these weeks we started talking about hepatitis, an infection or inflammation of the liver. We also stress its main symptoms and signs to recognize the symptoms. Today we will begin to see the different types of hepatitis.

While hepatitis A is a short-term illness that goes away completely. It’s the type of hepatitis that most affects children. The virus remains in the faeces of people who have contracted the infection, hence the importance of washing their hands after using the toilet.

What is Hepatitis?

Hepatitis is an inflammation of the liver, a kind of irritation or infection of the liver. The liver is the most voluminous viscera of the body, and one of the most important in terms of metabolic activity of the organism.

When the person has hepatitis, the body is affected and can not properly perform its functions. There are many cases of people who have lived with the disease for years without knowing it and then discovered the damage the disease has caused in the liver.
