The Test for Allergy

The easiest way to determine whether you are allergic to something is to make the call prick test in the medical consultation. It is a very simple test.

The physician disinfected with ether for example, inner arm, where the test is performed. After that will come with a number of vials: each contains an allergen, ie a substance capable of producing allergies. Mark with a pen a series of dots, usually divided in two lines next to each dot placed with a dropper a drop of each allergen. One of the drops is water or saline, which produces no allergic reaction, another drop is histamine, which always produce allergy: the application of these two drops is performed as a control, to see how the subject reacts to these substances and do a comparison with its reaction to other allergens. A food allergy occurs because of an abnormal hypersensitivity reaction, which originates from taking or eating a certain food.

In children under four years, the most common allergies are caused by foods such as eggs, milk, shellfish, nuts, citrus and tomatoes. In adults this is less common allergies.

The person before having an allergic reaction to food, must be exposed to the food at least once. Allergic symptoms happen the second time the person eats the food. This time, the antibodies react with the food, histamines are released, giving the reactions. (more…)

Those who are allergic have always heard of the presence of mites. These are responsible for certain allergies. While not visible to the naked eye, their droppings are usually allergic to and symptoms of asthma. They feed on skin scales shed from human or animal. So their presence is ensured where skin detachment, mattresses, blankets, pillows, etc..

Periods of increased reproduction are spring and autumn. The mite droppings are scattered in the dust which is then inhaled by those living in confined spaces. This powder is what causes allergies.
